From a Book to a Movement

Perri's Pencil Problem started with something that happened to me. But once I shared my story, I realized it wasn't just mine. So many kids have their own version of the pencil moment, a small comment or joke that leaves a big mark. That's why I started Say Something Sweet, Inc., a kindness and anti-bias non-profit and movement built on a simple idea: our words can be sweet or they can be sour, and we get to choose which ones we use.

What Say Something Sweet Does

 

Say Something Sweet, Inc. gives kids, classrooms, and families real tools to talk about identity, respect, and belonging, the same conversations at the heart of Perri's story. Through our Squad program, pledge campaign, and free resources for every grade, we're helping families and schools turn one book's lesson into an everyday practice. Every pledge, every Squad member, every classroom that joins is proof that kids are ready to lead on kindness. We just have to give them the words.
